Annual Survey of Birds and Habitat
Each year the Friends of The Innamincka Reserves undertakes an extensive “Bird and Habitat Survey”. The purpose of this work is to record Bird species and numbers, to note habitat, fire damage to habitat, pest species and any other environmental impact on the surveyed area.
The first “Bird and Habitat Survey” was undertaken by the Friends of The Innamincka Reserves in 2013 and extended along the “Bore Track” for 100 ks.

In 2014 the “Bird and Habitat Survey” was carried out along the road out to Coongie Lakes.

In 2015 the “Bird and Habitat Survey” was carried out along the Old Strzelecki Road for a distance of 50kms, then along the Loop Road for 50ks.

No “Bird and Habitat Survey” was undertaken in 2016 due to rain. Roads were closed and survey work was not possible.
2017 the “Bird and Habitat Survey” was carried out along the Cordillo Road

A cycle has been set for repeating the above 4 surveys to provide comparative data on bird species and numbers, plants, pests and general environmental threats.
In 2018, a repeat “Bird and Habitat Survey” was carried out along the Bore Track North
(Report 5, “Bore Track North Repeat”)
2019 saw a repeat of the 2015 survey along the Old Strzelecki Road for a distance of 50kms, then along the Loop Road. 2019 survey along Old Strzelecki Rd & Loop Rd
