Innamincka Cemetery

This historic site, just on the out-skirts of Innamincka, has been sadly neglected over time. The Friends of Innamincka have spent a good deal of time in researching the actual burials at this site. This has proven to be a very difficult task as no records seem to be available. We would be very appreciative of any further information on the cemetery. In 2011 the Friends Group demolished the remains of the old fence around the cemetery and put a new one. In 2012 we spent many hours weeding and redefining the outlines around the graves. Innamincka Working Bee/Field Trip – August 2012

At Innamincka on Thursday 19th August 2012,  members of The Friends of Innamincka Reserves gathered in the AIM building for a welcome and induction by our Liasion Ranger, Gavin Agius and Jessica Fuller-Smith, Graduate Ranger. After the formalities the group dispersed to start our working bee. Our tasks included:- AIM building Inside – housekeeping, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing and maintenanceOutside – weeding, pruning, dripper repairs, re-gravelling pathways, gate repairs Campsites Cleaned up campfire sites, vegetation clearance for access, erosion control, removal of flood debris.  New fence lines, replacement of broken Bollards and cabling Signage Clearance of vegetation, cleaning and some repainting, …

Innamincka Working Bee/Field Trip – July 2011

Everyone camped at Burkes Grave Campground Sunday: Some of the group took a trailer and collected ash and rubbish from campsites at Cullyamurra Waterhole, and old fence posts and wire from Burkes campsite.
